You know Tom Hanks, Forrest Gump. Slow, yes. Retarded, maybe. Braces on his legs. But he charmed the pants off Nixon and he won a ping-pong competition? That ain’t retarded.

You went full retard, man. Never go full retard.

lol. yeah it has been a long while since trime and x3 came around. Razz

i guess we'll see how the voting turnout is this year. hopefully it will be stong, and not just because hollywood says so. it's going to be tough to decide though, since last night during the debate the masked magician was also revealing magic's greatest secrets. how can you watch a debate when you've got a powerhouse like that lined up in the same timeslot. If turnout is high then McCain has absolutely no chance. Newly registered voters support Obama by a landslide and registered Democrats historically turn out in lower numbers than Republicans. High turnout would mean an Obama slaughterhouse.

meh, I agree it would give him an obvious edge but doubt a slaughter.

The reason that is is because of the newly registered voters are coming out of school where primarily everything they learn is of the liberal persuasion.

God bless the Republican party's sense of Civic Duty and the laziness of the Democratic party.

Current polls have Obama nearly doubling McCain's electoral count...and the gap is widening in most states...

What can I say? There's nothing I can do - being educated means you tend to be more liberal. But the question is which came first, the chicken or the egg? Wink

maybe i'll be the exception that proves the rule? Wink i'm fairly well educated, advanced schooling and whatnot.

and the more "educated" i become, the more clear it is that rabid idealism doesn't have near the value of a firm grasp on reality which is unclouded by, well, bullshit politics and feel-good pandering.

anyone can tell you what you want to hear, or what they think you want to hear or what will make you feel good about what you hear, but it takes some backbone to tell you the unembellished truth even though it's not what will make you jump for joy or what might even make you cringe. it takes character to not try to be more than you are -- you can't promise to be everything to everyone, or at least you can't promise it in truth and in good faith. you can't consistently build yourself up by tearing the other guy down.

i'm not sure where this liberal elitism crap came from -- but what's clear is that quite a few in the left wing actually believe it. they've bought into the notion that being liberal means that, among other things, you're more educated, more cultured, more civil, more who knows what -- better? i think that's great -- it's clearly a fantasy, and it only serves for those to marginalize themselves by buying into this nonsense. it's so easy to dismiss "the other guy" if you *know* you're smarter than them, right?

yeah you don't really see many liberals in the military, even in the section of the army that i'm in where nearly every enlisted (and officer of course) holds varying degrees from different schools.

I don't think I'm superior to anybody by sheer virtue of my having different opinions, but isn't there something inherent in having an opinion that says "I'm smarter than you"? If you didn't believe your opinion was best, would it be yours at all? Any time anybody argues one opinion against another, they're making an inherent value judgment that states that theirs is better.
