okay -- so after playing on a few servers, the one thing i'm noticing is that i can't hit a damn thing with any consistency at all. sometimes i make a string of 5-10 hits (where i hit and kill right where i'm aiming, just like what i used to be used to) and then i can go literally MINUTES without hitting a damn thing.

my network stats seem to look fine (it's not network lag), my framerate is nice and steady (not my pc framing or lagging), and some other people on the server seem to be able to hit me with impunity (so it's not server-side lag).

i mentioned it in a server or two and the people came back with "it's not zp like before" -- which i clearly know and i clearly LIKE. i'm sooo used to leading shots whatnot from ut99 and used to be pretty decent at it, but for some reason i just can't reach ANY consistency at all, and it's pissing me off.

has anyone else had this problem? could there be any setting or tweak which is getting in my way, so to speak?

I agree, it's very particular and totally different than any previous version. I guess it's just a thing that calls for total re-adjusting. As in a brand new game. I have to wait a month or so for a move and get a better connection before I can even tinker with it truly.

2 letters and a digit is the reason. It ends with a 3 and it starts with PS

I've seen tutorials to make a dot crosshair by adjusting some ini commands. I'll look for a link. I loosely tried it one time and it never worked due to my lackuster effort but apparently it's real as I seen some screenpics.

There might be some help here for you, read thoroughly, and whatever you do don't install any custom crosshair patches, as you may get a key ban. Just look for the coordinate changes to the ini to make a dot. A lot of these dot coordinates were made for the demo and out of the box installs so be careful and choose wisely(something made for after patch install only). I don't have the time or patients myself atm to try anything so good luck.

omg omg omg... it works.

following is how i got my little yellow dot back...

i had already changed my settings to use the simple crosshairs, so if you didn't do that yet, do it first. then edit and add the three lines under appropriate section in the following file:

My Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Config\UTWeapon.ini

Code:
[UTGame.UTWeapon]
bUseCustomCoordinates=true
CustomCrosshairCoordinates=(U=284,V=94,UL=6,VL=6)
CrosshairColor=(R=255,G=255,B=0,A=255)

worked like a charm as you can see from the screenshot...

i actually like the weapon shown... kinda unnecessary with instagib, since there is only the one weapon, but it's how i've always played and feel kinda "naked" without it Wink and as for tweaking, i think i'm all set -- got graphics turned down so it looks clean but still nice and seems rather smooth. that crosshair was an annoyance but now that's fixed so i'm good. and i JUST managed to get a lot of my keybinds fixed up (though i still need to bind the commands like "take their flag", "defend the base", etc).
