out of curiosity, there's been some christmas music starting to be played lately (more to be expected soon of course) and it begs the question about the type of christmas music people listen to or enjoy.

each christmas season comes and more and more contemporary christmas songs appear (from the current day "artists") and compete with the traditional favorites. personally, christmas music for me is about the classics -- bing crosby, johnny mathis, nat king cole, etc... and although perhaps not a "classic" certainly a "new classic" of mannheim steamroller. and yet on the radio or satellite there is a never ending onslaught of new christmas music from "popular artists" of the day... most of which i think is complete crap.

ANYWAY, who here digs the classics and who can actually stand the new shit? Wink

Give me the classics - Andy Williams, Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby. And start it about two weeks before Christmas, not Labor Day.

It actually depends on the Artist. I love the Classics but if they are sung by an Artist that has a great voice and if composed the right way they still get my vote.
For Example
Sheryl Crow - Home for Christmas, Was nicely done.

The classics. I work at Red Lobster currently and they're introducing all this techno-remixed Christmas music bullshit into the playlist and it's even worse than the shit they usually play.
