1:1.23

Can't people just love. Why the hate?

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.

This is from Genesis:

Quote:
Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. 3 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the LORD . 4 But Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering, 5 but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.

6 Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it."

There's a lesson in there, somewhere, if we are willing to hear it.

could be a ratio Razz

20 threads per page, and 9 out of 20 are currently locked. 9 locked, 11 unlocked -- 9:11 = 1:1.22 (plus rounding error Razz)

regardless, it's a sad statement of disagreements.

do what you're asked and not what you think is best..

cain was suposed to bring a sacrifice but he thought he would top what god asked so he brought his works...
to do that is questioning gods will..not having faith...able didn't know why god wanted him to kill his lambs but he did it because he had faith or knew there had to be a good reason for it if it was asked from god..

able had faith and cain didn't...he wanted to top ables gift..
thats the moral of that story..i'm not sure if it's what you are meaning though Laughing

the point was Cain didn't bring his faith he brought meaningless works...
Able making the sacrifice of his lambs lives because God asked that of him showed trust..God didn't tell him why he wanted him to do it ..he just did it...Cain bypassed Gods request of his sacrifice and show lack of faith by trying to show his works instead..it was all about trusting God enough to go through with it..it didn't have anything to do with what they brought..it had everything to do with them doing what he asked of them..It was about themTrusting him..

It's about mastering our baser impulses, not letting them master us. We have been given the ability to do what is right. It is a struggle to do the right thing, yet appears to be the boring "mainstream" thing to do, and all the cool kids are off elsewhere.

They don't realize that they're being played, the master of puppets is pulling their strings, just as Cain was manipulated.

Star Wars has it exactly wrong. If you trust your feelings, you turn off your brain, you stop thinking, you fall into the trap. It is when you engage your brain and swim against the flow that you become the person you were meant to be, doing the right thing when that is not at all cool.

See your way clear. Cut your strings. Do what's right regardless of what anybody else thinks. The only one that ultimately can stop you, is you. It is the harder, better way, and yet so few choose that way.

Think.

Seems to me like it's just trying to tell you to have blind faith and not to question anything.
