i came across some pretty cool images which help visualize when data is eventually measured in petabytes. crazy stuff, yeah? i don't currently own or use a machine that has a HD capacity greater than 1 TB, but that kind of capacity is getting cheaper all the time.

as an example, i looked up THE BIGGEST INTERNAL HD i could find on newegg: 2TB - and it's only 199.99. i imagine by the end of this year it will be down to 149.99 or so, maybe even lower. i have a 500gb external that i have a hard time imagining being able to fill. terabytes and petabytes just seem overwhelming.

so basically, if/when it does come out, there will never be a need to increase your capacity...unless you have more data than the entirety of mankinds existence in all languages. Shocked

cool stuff tho

oh yeah, i remember. i remember in jr high taking computer classes where we were learning beginning 'basic' programming and we each had our own floppy disks that had all our assignments and what not on them. of course that was when we were rocking the apple II, awww yeah!

another fond memory was when we got our first computer at home. my dad brought home a used desktop from work, i don't even remember what brand it was, probably an ibm, but the floppy disks it ran off of were huge. i probably could have put in one of my LP records in to the thing. Razz

ah the good ol' days. Cool

You know Tom Hanks, Forrest Gump. Slow, yes. Retarded, maybe. Braces on his legs. But he charmed the pants off Nixon and he won a ping-pong competition? That ain’t retarded.

You went full retard, man. Never go full retard.

I remember when I was like 10 and was shopping for a new hard drive with my Mom. I was trying to tell her how the 700MB hard drive was WAY MORE than she would ever need. Razz
