IMO, good vocals in ROCK would be Chris Cornell from Soundgarden, Chester from Linkin Park, Robert Plant, Getty Lee, and Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam. Some for their awesome range and vocal purity and others for their emotional expression through their vocals.

don't forget MJK from tool. very dynamic and talented singer. listen to "the grudge" off of lateralus, somewhere in the middle of the song (around 8 minutes) he belts out a yell and holds perfect pitch fo a ridiculous amount of time. i've seen them live many times, and it wasn't done in post in the studio...the guy is absolutly phenominal.

I can't believe I forgot about Maynard. Did you see them on the Lollapalooza tour in '93? IMO, we haven't seen such a great collection of good music since the early 90's. In the rock genre. One last person I think should be added to the list is Philip Anselmo from Pantera. The octave he reaches on Cemetary Gates hurts.

that...and phil is so freaking pissed he'll stomp anything that moves.
yeah they're both great. i didn't see tool during lolapaluza unfortunatly. i've seen them 5 or 6 times...i don't remember now, and i've seen a perfect circle 3 or 4. every time MJK's vocal talent blows me away.
i saw pantera with anthrax and coal chamber back in 96 or so. that was a freaking wild show. i was in the pit, and man it got nasty. many a person was tossed along the wayside that day. i really like panteras cover of 'planet caravan'. very schweet. when they were singing it during the show people were throwing bags of week up on stage. it was crazy.

I would love to discuss it, but it appears that you are laying down and sucking up to the man.
Well, now I've got some advice for you little buddy, before you point your finger, you should know that I'm the man!

You know Tom Hanks, Forrest Gump. Slow, yes. Retarded, maybe. Braces on his legs. But he charmed the pants off Nixon and he won a ping-pong competition? That ain’t retarded.
You went full retard, man. Never go full retard. |
